Job Description

About the Role:

Under the direction of the Director of Technical services, The Distribution and Component Processing Manager (DCPM) manages and supervises distribution and components staff. The DCPM must meet the regulatory responsibilities and demonstrate active involvement in the daily processing of blood components and actively manage inventory levels to meet the highest standards of customer service.    

The Distribution and Component Processing Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective distribution process from receiving components to delivering finished products to customers. The manager will implement strategies to optimize operations and improve service levels. Additionally, they will lead a team of professionals, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement. Ultimately, the goal of this role is to enhance the overall performance and contribute to the company's growth and success.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree
  • At least 5 years of supervisor or management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Blood banking or regulated industry experience 
  • 10 years of management experience

Responsibilities:

  • Manages daily inventory and monthly inventory reporting to include product reconciliation.
  • Determines the need to export or import products to meet goals. 
  • Manages surplus products in the export market.
  • Provides and ensures excellent customer service with all internal and external customers.   
  • Maintains ongoing relationships with hospital customers.
  • Ensures all SOPs are followed.
  • Perform scheduling, hiring, disciplining and evaluations of staff.
  • Manages charges weekly with proper adjustments as needed. 
  • Manages expired inventory.
  • Perform staff responsibilities during shortages or staff time off. 
  • Manages training and competency of staff.
  • Manages distribution and paperwork for plasma shipments.
  • Manages the proper processing, testing, labeling, and storage of all blood products.
  • Ensures the creation, review, implementation, and enforcement of all SOP’s.
  • Perform duties of staff during shortages or covering leave. 
  • Manages training and competency of staff.
  • Perform scheduling, hiring, disciplining and evaluations of staff.

Skills:

The required skills for this role include strong leadership abilities, which are essential for managing a diverse team and driving performance improvements. Analytical skills are crucial for interpreting data related to distribution processes and making informed decisions. Excellent communication skills are necessary for collaborating with various departments.  Problem-solving skills will be utilized daily to address operational challenges and implement effective solutions. Preferred skills, such as proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel will enhance the manager's ability to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency.
